Chris Coyle is an experienced development manager with a record of delivering complex projects across a range of sectors, from site acquisition through planning and design development to delivery. Vettex is his practice: one principal, accountable for the whole project.

The work is commercial, residential and mixed-use development in Melbourne, Adelaide and on the East Coast. Chris has managed the planning and delivery of projects up to $219m.

He handles the town planning and authority applications, procures the design consultants and the contractor, and runs the commercial and contractual management himself. A client deals with the person who is accountable, not a junior manager, and the relationships with clients, consultants and contractors are his own.

Some of that work sits outside what the building code’s standard provisions contemplate. At 57–71 Stephenson Street in Cremorne, fifteen storeys of office with the timber structure left exposed, the approval rests on a performance-based case rather than the Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions, which stop well below that height for timber left unprotected. Chris assembled and ran that case with the fire and structural engineers, and the application now sits with the Minister for Planning.
